I read this in one night because I couldn’t put it down. It’s hilarious and keeps you on the edge of your seat! If you like Chelsea Handler books you’ll LOVE this!

I’ve read the book and afterward the reviews here…first, the book is an inside view to the circumstances Daly has found himself in and the choices he has made as a result. He has described them to us as he saw/sees them. I am grateful for the opportunity to see someone elses perspective. Those are not my perspectives/circumstances/choices and not likely to become so. Interesting reading, nonetheless.

Second, what surprised me was the level of judgment and preaching about and to Daly in some of the reviews. The guy tells us he is simply telling it like he sees it and not pulling any punches…it literally is what it is. There are those of us who tend toward the edges and will do so regardless of anyone else’s desires or wishes, while most of us tend to hang around the middle. Daly lives his life on the edge and he has explained why. He hasn’t asked for approval, he is simply showing us the view.

Jock itch is by far the best book I’ve read. It’s almost as if Rosa were here herself telling me her story over drinks. The humor is to die for! This book was worth every penny and more! Honestly, I actually feel like I didn’t pay for it’s value. It’s a tremendous delight to read, and you won’t be able to keep your nose out of it. This book is marvelous, filled with a stupendous amount of truth for every woman. Such a catastrophic success!

The author seems to be brutally honest about her faults and the men she chose to date… all said with a great deal of humor. Some how Rosa made a story about infidelity an enjoyable read…I KNOW… who knew that was a possibility?

Rosa may have been a slow learner in what truly makes for a good relationship, one must look beyond a man’s looks and career choice. A good man is one who can pass a mirror without being transfixed with their own reflection and the adulation of a multitude of women…all at one time. Maybe sports does not make for fidelity, these men have been told how wonderful they are all their lives for being able to throw a ball, receive a ball or shot a ball and not for their ability to think of others feelings. No… I am not saying all athletes are this way but there is a fair share who think highly of themselves. Rosa also seems to be a person who is willing to except she played a part in making poor decisions when it comes to the men she chose to be involved with. She seemed to be in denial when it came to some of the men’s exploits and drug use, but many of us were young and wore rose colored glasses until we lived life a little.

At the end I was relieved that Rosa seems to be happy and hey… how bad could it have been…she has a little daughter in her life she would not have had had she not met her ex. I am also happy she seems to be in a healthy relationship with a good man. Maybe one has to kiss a few frogs to appreciate a good man when they come along. Good luck Rosa in life… it was a fun read.

Excellent, entertaining, and refreshing! This is a laugh out loud book with Blasi’s self-deprecating sense of humor and witniness entertaining the reader throughout. This is a great book for everyone. The women will empathize with Blasi while the men enjoy all the sports references. Truly delightful. A great summer read.

First, let me preface this with the fact that I really like John Daly. I like his TV show. I like how good he is to the little guy. I like how down to earth he is. I like the fact that he is a good tipper. I thought I knew a lot about John but this book showed me a lot more about him. Here’s some things I didn’t know:
-He would eat 15 packs of peanut M&M’s per round.
-He would eat 15 chocolate chip muffins per round
-He would smoke 4 packs of cigaretts per day.
-He would drink a bottle of Jack Daniels a day at times.
-No matter how many millions of dollars he would make, he would go to the casinos and blow it all.
-He has hit rock bottom many times and yet there would always be some sugar daddy there to bail him out. (Eli Callaway, Joe Hardy etc.) Granted, these sugar daddy’s came around AFTER he had made and blown millions.

John, you’re such a nice man. I am worried that someday you will end up destitute. If you look up destitute in the dictionary is says: “lacking something needed or desired”. I am really afraid that John will end up like Mike Tyson, Tonya Harding etc. There will come a day that John’s game will go downhill and the sponsors and money will dry up FAST. It already seems to be happening. I really believe that the worst thing that could happen to John is that he win another major or even another tournament. All this would do is enable him to postpne looking into his soul to find out why he is on a road to self destruction. John, how could you blow all that money in casinos? Why not just put millions in a big pile and burn it? That’s what you’re doing anyway. You are blowing money and taking it away from your children’s future. If you don’t win more tournaments I really think that you will not be able to send your kids to college someday. By then you will be too broke to afford it.

John, please get some help in the way of a good therapist. I’m only saying this because I see myself in you. There is no shame in asking for help. You’re a nice guy. You’re a good person. There are reasons that you are destroying your life. If you wait too long to seek help it will be too late.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Whether you like him or not or think he’s wasted some of his talent — John Daly is John Daly. His book gives the reader an indepth look at who he really is. He doesn’t pretend to be something he isn’t. The book is written as if John is right there talking to you. He recounts his past and takes full accountability — No Excuses. He is clearly a stand up, what you see is what you get kinda guy. “My Life In and Out of the Rough….” is very easy to read — perfect for the train or plane. I love the question and answer section – in which he asks and answers his own questions (favorite movies, hobbies and etc). If you looking for an up personal account of who John Daly is — then read this book. If you are looking for a book that goes into detail about the PGA Tour — look elsewhere. John Keeps It Real!!!!!!

I can see why fans of John Daly would love this book – he portrays himself as the good ol’ boy that many golf fans know and adore. But the BS here is waist-deep. The book actually made me sad – there is absolutely nothing to admire about this guy. He has squandered his talent and his money. He tries to portray himself as a champion, but anyone who follows the Tour knows he is the biggest quitter of all time. Whenever he is playing poorly or is out of contention, he throws in the towel – he has probably shot more final rounds in the 80′s than any Tour player in history. Bottom line – if you’re already a Daly fan, you’ll probably love this book. But if you read it wanting to find out more about him, it will reveal him as one gigantic, pathetic waste of talent.

John Daly is a great storyteller. He has the ability to keep readers captivated. The strong book sales indicate that golf fans are not the only folks drawn to his colorful life.

John D. is introspective, possessing deep insight regarding his golf skills as well as his vices, including alcohol. Although he doesn’t admit to being an alcoholic, now or in the past, he does mention cross-addictions. Deep down, I believe there’s a part of John that knows he is an alcoholic.

As a recovering compulsive gambler, I know firsthand how the ambiance of a casino can provide an escape from emotional pain. In order for John D. to address his numerous addictions, he will definitely need a solid game plan to battle his fiercest competitor — himself.

I absolutely loved the way Rosa writes, its like you are right there with her. This book made me giggle to myself, literally laugh out loud in public places, and gasp in disbelief. Everytime i put the book down i couldnt wait to pick it back up to know what her next roller-coaster turn would be. It is written in such an entertaining way I know that others will love it too. This book is definitely getting recommended by me to all my friends and then some for sure.

Very amusing and witty even for readers that have never been interested in athletes. Rosa is beautiful, funny, and candid. She has some interesting insights on relationships that apply to any couple/marriage. I recommend this book as a quick read that can be useful in deterring women from getting stuck in the wrong kinds of relationships – among those included in this book, she paints a particularly vivid picture of the pitfalls of the relationship that involves relaxed attitudes toward drugs, alcohol, and partying. We all love a good party scene, but leave the jokers behind that need alcohol and drugs to have fun, especially those that are closet addicts to boot!
(Because of the casual discussion about drugs and sex in this book, I would not recommend it for anyone under 21, though. Parents of teens beware.)

very enjoyable! hard to put down once you start reading. Very exciting no b.s. story of John. I would love to meet John just to say congratulations on a job well done!

Daly doesn’t hold a lot back when he authorizes his tell-alls. He also is not concerned too much about public perception. He is definitely one of the more colorful characters in professional golf. The book is a no holds barred account of many of his life experiences, good and bad. I am an avid golfer, and a fan of Daly’s, and enjoyed reading the book.

This book is sensational. I had the pleasure of spending an evening with J.D. in a bar back in 2000 and had plenty of conversation with him. I also have followed him on tour and I have watched the Planet Daly program on the golf channel. This book is written in first person as told by J.D. himself. I personally could not put it down. The book describes his life story from beginning to present. I really felt like he was talking to me as I was reading the book. I give him a lot of credit for getting involved with this project. It is easy to see that he had alot of involvement with this book. His own personality really is displayed by the words written. I am surprised that he can remember all of what happened. If you thought that J.D. was open about his problems you will still be amazed by some of his stories in this book.

I read John’s book last week and I still have mixed opinions about it. It was interesting and insightful but at the same time I was a little disappointed as well.

The book starts out interesting but somewhat looses momentum in the last third. John has a reality show on The Golf Channel called “The Daly Show”, there is a portion of the book that has material already used on his show. So if you’ve watched his show, sections of his book seem a bit redundant.

I have to admit after reading the book I would rather not see John represent the USA in the Ryder Cup. He made an attempt to show that he’s just a regular guy in his book, but he’s got more problems than 10 regular guys combined. His self-destructive way about going through life is disturbing at best. It makes it aweful hard to finish the book and still maintain any sense of respect for the author.

The book was decently written athough it did contrdict itself on a few occasions (in one case it did on the same page) but that is just as much the editor’s fault.

Such an easy read that kept me laughing out loud. Rosa does an amazing job finding humor in any and all situations. She shares the misfortunes of dating while giving us a glimpse of athlete’s lifestyles. A must read if you’re looking for some giggles!

John Daly has interested me for a long time. I suppose the
whole under-dog thing, going up against the odds, etc. But
I really enjoyed reading this book. Thought it was an easy read
and well written since it was refreshingly naked in terms of
a person just showing all there is to show. I would recommend
it especially since it is so opposite of the whole stuffy
professional golf player fraternity.

I am a snobby reader. I won’t read just any old book. But I’d seen Rosa on Make It Or Break It and some where along the way, I read that she wrote a book. I got the free sample on my Kindle and as soon as I finished it, I knew I had to buy it. Boy, am I glad I didn’t turn my nose up at this one! I read it in one sitting and could not stop laughing! Don’t even try drinking anything while you are reading or your kindle/book will get a really good nose bath. My husband kept waking up and asking me what in the world I could be laughing so hard at.

Rosa is honest in a way that most people can’t pull off. She’s not just funny, she’s witty. I’m not a big sports person but I love Hockey. I always wondered what it was like to date an athlete. It seems like an entirely different world and Rosa seems to pull you in, even if you know little about sports. It’s amazing how she can take her bumpy life and put it all out there for the world to see. She opens the door on what life with an athlete is really like and what really goes on in that world. Some horrible things happened to her and she writes everything not just with humor, but with grace and with class. Especially considering all that went on in her relationships.

You won’t just like this book. You’ll LOVE it and you’ll be telling your friends and family to read it too! Trust me, you don’t want to miss Jock Itch.

Though not particuarly well written, this autobiography is nonetheless engaging and entertaining. Many of Daly’s personal faults are already well known, so there is not too much in this book anyone will find shocking. Despite what another reviewer wrote, I never felt that Daly was making excuses for his behavior, giving his side of the story and providing more context to the myriad of situations he has created and found himself in over the years. He is by and large unapologetic, which in a way is refreshing. He seems mostly at peace with who he is and his take me or leave me attitude is sad in some respects. His ongoing gambling problem, poor diet, poor romantic choices, binge drinking, etc have kept him from regaining his position as a great golf player. If you like Daly buy the book. He is a definite character and overall a likable one who seems to generally appreciate his fans and those less fortunate than himself.

I find this biography to be very well written at times. God knows that mr. Daly has some interesting (at least) stories to tell! The writing engages and has an easy flow, but some times the whole flow kind of halts as the stories turn from good stories and anecdotes into blatant bragging… Maybe it’s because I am not american that I react to this, but in my opinion, if you make a few well intended and much needed donations, you shouldn’t need to write a book to brag about this. It should be enough just to feel good about yourself.

Anyway, if you get this book at a fair price, buy it.

Amazing book. It was so funny, and reallllly interesting once you figure out who the athletes are that she talks about. Read it really fast because I couldn’t put it down. I am so glad I saw this book on a whim.

What an awesome book. I think I read this in a day! I couldn’t put it down. John is sure a good ole boy!

I have to say that after reading some of the reviews, I’m almost ashamed to write my own. But unlike some of the reviews, I’ll spare you any moral soapboxing on my part and not judge the man. Quite simply, the book sheds considerable light on the life (both the good and the bad) of a guy who happens to be a well-known professional golfer. Kudos to John for having the courage to share much of his private life with the public. John’s not a saint and doesn’t pretend to be (and pretty much says so in the book). He candidly admits to a plethora of self destructive indulgences and decisions yet balances such with discussion about many of his commendable deeds. His honesty is refreshing. He talks about sex, love, alcohol, anger, guilt, determination, etc. He’s human for God’s sake!

I gave it four stars because it’s an easy read and is written in a style suitable for the content. And if you’re interested in learning about the life of John Daly, the content serves its purpose quite well. It’s both entertaining and informative. It’s not meant to win a literary prize. I enjoyed it for what it is – a good book.

A wonderful glance into the remarkable and troubled life of an amazing golfer and a truly incredible man!

John has always been my favorite golfer. I picked this book up due to a recommendation by a friend. I found that once I started reading I could not put the book down until it was finished.

This book goes into the shortcomings and triumphs of the most diverse golfer that the game has ever seen. Some people love to hate John, and others would love to hang out with him. John shows that golfing is all about fun, it is a game and should be treated as such.

It is fun to read about how John got his start in golf, the wins he has had over the years, and the charity he has shown others. There are also sad aspects of the book which go into the drinking, gambling and love life of a man who seems to searching for something that he will never find.

I highly recommend this book to any sports enthusiast. It is a great read and will have you rolling on the floor at some of the hilarious anecdotes. Don’t let this one go unread as you will regret it. John surly is an amazing guy.

This great book chronicles one of the most important problems confronting scores of the world’s population today. Untreated alcoholism and it’s many manifestations. As this interesting book reveals time and time again, alcohol is the culprit behind the insanity of a very gifted but very ill man named John Daly. What little time he spent without ingesting alcohol of any kind…not just Jack Daniels…his life got better. And each and every time Mr. Daly picked up…his life got worse (as demonstrated by his performance this year on the PGA Tour). An alkee in his cups can only perform at about 30 percent of his or her ability…until all becomes impossible. Mr Daly has achieved enormous success using 30 percent of his God-given ability. I enjoyed reading this book. You feel for John. He’s a good guy. Some of his unwanted drama is self-inflicted and some not. I can’t imagine anyone to be as good as he is with all the distractions. Bottom line, he lives large and doesn’t just amble through life.

I did not know who this chick was, but I decided to get the book after hearing a funny radio interview. I DID NOT expect this book to be as funny as it was!I seriously couldn’t put it down and I found myself blowing things off in order to finish it. I had just had to know what happens next. Then my boyfriend got a hold of it and we were literally arguing over who got to read it
This book is beyond hilarious. She reminds me of Chelsea Handler in her wit and honesty and tells it like it is. You won’t BELIEVE the ending…but I don’t want to spoil it for you. Do yourself a favor and get this book. I predict the best beach read of the summer!

i thought the book could have been a much better read if it did not have so many repeats in it. he’s a special guy really and i love him to bits. keep going john!!

I liked the supposed honesty (though there seems to be some dispute about the $60mil lost gambling amount– Charles ‘I know Gamblin’ Barkley claims that Daly has to be worth half a billion if he’s lost $60M gambling– and Sir Charles ought to know) and of course America loves a comeback story– especially if it involves riches, and violence, booze and prison (for your woman).

It’s interesting that Daly has recently been cancelling appearances that his publisher has scheduled (outside of 60 Minutes). I guess since he doesn’t mind losing $60M on gambling, he surely doesn’t mind losing his publisher their $4.5 million advance.

First off, let me start out by saying I’ve always been a John Daly fan, so I had to read this book. Daly has so much natural talent that it makes most golf pros sick just to watch this guy, especially when they know he’s wasted some of his best years on women and addictions. And you notice, I say addictions. Daly freely admits being addicted to sex and gambling, but refuses to admit being an alcoholic. Well, anyone who has ever dealth with alcoholics, or lived with one, would be the first to step up to the tee box and tell John he has a drinking problem. But until the day arrives when he’ll admit it, mostly to himself, he’ll always have a drinking problem. My guess is, as long as Daly can afford to drink, he won’t stop. However, if he doesn’t quit gambling, he’ll see the day that he can’t afford to buy the booze, and that will happen as sure as God made little green applies.
But those problems are Daly’s to overcome and not for the rest of the world to judge. He isn’t alone in a constant battle to overcome his addictions. He told his story in this book and I, an avid reader, happen to think he’s told it well. I picked up the book at the local library, but I’m planning to order a copy for my library collection. Daly has admitted to his mistakes, but the press decided to hammer him about the dark side of his life, and didn’t give Daly a fair shake when it came to reporting about the domestic abuse ordeal. When the press decides to hammer on a guy, they can be so merciless even when so totally wrong. It’s not about who’s right or who’s wrong, it’s about the story. And most people are gullible enough to believe what they read, some even want to believe it when in their heart they know it probably isn’t true. That’s just journalism, nothing fair or right about it at times. Daly touched my heart with his story, and I’m pulling for this guy 100%. I hope someday I’ll have the chance to meet up with him personally. He reminds me of another “heavy-set” golf pro I happen to know, a gentle giant of a guy that can knock a golf ball into forever, who never met a stranger, and has a heart the size of Texas…just like Daly. And this guy, like Daly, thinks the new golf course (designed after the Scotland links) where he’s head pro, is just the greatest. It’s a challenge, that’s for sure.
I recommend this book to anyone that’s a John Daly fan, or anyone that loves the game of golf. I love a “Grip it and Rip it” golfer, and Daly fits that description perfectly. You go, John.

I’ve read this cover to cover in 3 days….would’ve been less if it wasn’t for those pesky job and family committments…Daly speaks from the heart and says his side of things….the only thing I didn’t like is that I wish he told his story in chronological order…the first chapter starts in the PGA Championship in 1991 and then jumps back to his beginnings in Arkansas and goes from there. He briefly mentions his wives in his book, not telling us how he met them and what transpired…but he leaves a chapter devoted to it…then there’s a couple of chapters that’s in a Question and Answer Format and another chapter about statistics…which is like a roadblock to me in knowing about his life…after those chapters, he continues on from the year 2000 to present….

I’m not the smartest guy in the world but I found myself referring back to past chapters and rereading parts to fully understand the time sequence of events…if he put it in a logical order and describe his relationship with his wives (instead of devoting a whole chapter to them) along the way and that statistics and Q&A chapter in the end, people of all ages and intellects (including those of Daly’s level too) would understand it better and enjoy it more!!!

What really bothered me that he states that he isn’t an alcoholic throughout the whole book…which overwhelming evidence in his book and other sources says otherwise. But to be fair…he admits he’s got a gambling problem and is doing his best to suppress it..

The sports autobiography may be one of the few genres in which the publishing industry has realized strong growth as there is no shortage of new releases concerning the athletes that so many of us admire. Golfer John Daly is the latest to tempt readers with an autobiography. Just after it was issued, it received considerable media attention, mostly due to its admission that the author gambled away, in the course of his career, over 50 to 60 million dollars.

My Life in and Out of the Rough: The Truth Behind All that Bull**** You Think You Know About Me promises to be a wild and “shocking” ride, but, strangely enough, it isn’t as John Daly is one of the few people on this earth whose personality and essence closely correspond with his physical appearance. Simply due to repeated observation, readers will not be surprised to learn that he is impulsive, undisciplined, gluttonous, financially reckless, extremely emotional, friendly, kind, prone to bad habits, and a complete “Razorback Redneck” (in his own words). Golf is the only thing in life that he’s ever been really good at, and the links were the only place he felt comfortable during his troubled childhood. We can sum him up by saying that he is the epitome of a southern good old boy who happens to be plagued by, in the vernacular of our day, some serious issues.

His daily behaviors exemplify that he is not one to idly chat about personal philosophy. Daly follows his mantra and is what he is which means he has little interest in self-improvement. “The Lion,” the nickname he most prefers, will smoke, drink beer, and eat at McDonalds until one of the habits kill him. Intentional exercise also is not something to which he can relate. All of this leads us to the one aspect about the “Big `Un” not readily detectable via observation which is his toxic level of masochism.

John Daly is a thoroughly self-destructive man. When he becomes upset, and this does not appear to be an infrequent occurrence, he responds by hurting himself as opposed to hurting others. He has trashed numerous hotel rooms, and even, after a fight with one of his wives, wrecked his own house. What these damages ended up costing him I cannot fathom.

It is in this interpersonal area where his masochism is irrefutable. We know that he is perfectly aware of the pathology behind his matrimonial unions as he named one of his chapters, “All My Exes Wear Rolexes,” but his cognizance has not altered his behavior. He is ripped off time and again by women who discard him as soon as they have put in the court mandated days for pension and earning vestment.

All of these blunders should not amount to our being over-sympathetic towards the author as he is an adult who has made his own willful choices. He may be nave and ignorant but he is not stupid. These recurring disasters have been inflicted and enabled by his own mind. They are psychologically satisfying to him in a way to which the rest of us cannot easily relate. He rebelled whenever friends, family, sponsors, doctors, and society tried to change him which means that he will remain uneven and unfinished forever. The only consolation is that, when the final tallies are penciled onto the scorecard, the only person he’s ever really hurt is himself.

I enjoyed the book. It was not at all the great book that others wrote. I would not recommend this book to anyone. She’s funny and light but its more of a story about her marriage.

I just finished the book, and I predict great sales. Rosa is an incredible writer, moving effortlessly from laugh-out-loud funny to huggably helpless to stone-cold beyotch. Sometimes all three on the same page!
If your daughter is pining over an athlete, buy her this book!

For anyone who would like to have John Dalys life style. Both
in and off the course. A very enjoyable, easy reading biography.

I enjoyed John Daly’s “My life in and out of the rough: the truth behind all that bull ****”. The soaring heights and abysmal lows are something that I understand very well. It is great to see his admissions of his problems and his on-going attempts to get them under control to a degree. I’ve heard many people talk about “what could he be if he were to stay straight and clean for a while?” Like Daly says, you might have something you like better but you won’t have him.

Daly is a motivated guy and has bouts of discipline in his life but doesn’t seem to let those bouts bring him down. This guy is a true American character and the lessons in his book are good on both sides, the good and the bad.
