Chad’s book has inspired many people who look to him as a role model. His book reflects on how important a good moral and religious foundation is to the development of a true winning spirit, whether on the field or off. Small town Iowa does not afford you many chances. But Chad set his sights on his dream, figured out what it took to acheive them and then took action, while keeping his foundation in the Lord. Chad continues to remember where he came from, and has not let his position in the NFL cloud who he really is, and what is important in his life.

This is an inspiring read about a real life ordinary young man born to a parents who were missionaries. What most people don’t realize is that doctors advised Mrs. Tebow to abort their unborn child. The Tebows stood on their faith in God making the decision to give birth to their son. The Tebows taught their son the importance of a personal relationship with God and hard work. Tebow portrays his family as both fun and godly. He recalls the time when his father set a fire to burn off some weeds but ended up burning out of control and catching part of their neighbor’s farm on fire. Tebow’s early life was spent doing hard work on the farm and going to school at home. He enjoyed the flexibility that homeschooling offered and began his college football career a semester early playing for the University of Florida. The book is heavy on the details of his college football career. Again, Tebow’s faith in God and commitment to doing all for the glory of God propelled him to excel as quarterback in college. What I was surprised to learn was how throughout his life he was counseled to not play quarterback. Tebow believed that he was made to play this postion and continued to pursue this dream despite obstacles that came his way. The book ends with Tebow’s first year playing second string quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Tebow sets the record straight concerning various events in his life covered by the media. I appreciated Tebow’s sincerity and down to earth writing style. I think this book is a great read for football fans and those wanting to read an inspiring story of a modern day young man.

Chad Hennings is a man of commitment and a man of God. In his book, Hennings stresses the importance of commitment and shows how his life time commitment to hard work has landed him in the National Football League. This is a wonderful book that is interesting and easy to read.

I have been very impressed with his dedication and energy that Tim Tebow has put into his playing for the Denver Broncos. it is refreshing to see a young athlete with high moral standards, a positive attitude, good manners, and the willingness to help others. I wondered “how he got that way”… after reading the book it is abundantly clear that his parents, his upbringing, his family, his coaches and friends had an enormous impact on his character… not to mention his spiritual outlook. I enjoyed reading the book.

For Daddy’s birthday this year, we got him a copy of Tim Tebow’s book Through My Eyes: A Quarterback’s Journey.
I think it took him a day and a half to reading it.
Matthew, my wonderful big brother, was not at home when my Dad finished, so I got to read it next.

I was excited about meeting Tebow through his book, and getting a glimpse of his life, from his perspective.
I was not disappointed. His book chronicles not only his shining moments but also his discouraged ones. The warmth of his personality glows through the pages. It shows both his strengths and his weaknesses.
Like all humans, Tim Tebow has faults, and because of his position as a pro athlete he has been the center of a lot of criticism. Despite all of that, he has let the light of Christ shine in his life. The whole style of the book is fun and action packed. How could it not be, since he plays football?

It is my prayer that this godly man will continue to stand for what is right, and use the platform God has given him, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world. I cannot imagine how hard it is, to be surrounded by media and fans, and stand up continually for Christ. As I turned the last page of Tebow’s book, this question kept coming back to me. Am I using the platform that God has given me, to generate as much glory and honor as I can, toward myself, or God? Will what I am doing today, last for eternity?
Though I don’t have a fraction of the influence that this professional quarterback has, I do have the same calling.(Phil. 3:14)
This quote from Pg. 318 particularly challenged me.

“When I leave this world, I want to leave something behind that keeps on making a difference in people’s lives. When you finish strong in life and get to heaven, God’s going to say, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” (Matthew 25:21).
…The legacy God intended each of us to leave has to do with the impact our lives have had on the lives of others whom He calls us to serve. It has to do with the difference our lives make in the world– in our families, with friends, at work, at school with our coaches, and teammates, and all those others around us. Our legacy should be about building in the lives of all those others, doing something for others that will not only last in their lives here, but for eternity…
What can I leave behind: a life that is marked by always trying to do things the right way, building a foundation in others, something that lives beyond me, helps people, and more important, causes them, in turn to want to help other people. Finish Strong and you help not just yourself; you help others.”

This book is a must read for struggling Christians or Struggling athletes (and maybe both). I have loved every bit of this Book, it is truly one of my faves. Haven’t read a book this inspirational in a long time. Purely epic!!

There is no denying that Tebow is a man of great character and determination, and I doubt with the success he will have with the Broncos that this will be his last autobiography. Unfortunately I did not enjoy his book as much as I would have liked too. As a life-long Denver Broncos fan I gave this book a shot to hopeful read some great stories and learn more about the Broncos future quarterback.

After reading it I find Tebow life revolves around two things; God and Football. Doesn’t sound like it will get boring does it? Well half-way through the book it gets old. Despite being on the national stage for so long Tebow has been sheltered so much by his family that he really has little to no stories outside of sports to share. Anything that happened to him growing up on his parents farm has happened in some shape or form to every other kid raised on a farm, and it doesn’t make for a compelling read. I didn’t pay to read stories I could have written about me or my neighbors.

I also felt like he wrote the book for himself and he was trying to remind himself over and over again what his own beliefs are. “I believe in God, I believe in God, I believe in God.” Yeah I get it, but who are we trying to convince here? Me or yourself? I felt it distracted from the stories, because it didn’t flow, it was a man’s love letter to God that I felt like if he didn’t continually praise God all his talent and success would disappear. Tebow got to where he is from hard work, and I wanted to read more stories about this hard work and ways I can get kids to model those behaviors.

Would I read it again knowing what I know now, probably not, but it is an easy read and I finished it in a couple days. I think most ratings on here will be five stars from Christians and Gators fans, and one star from FSU, Raiders, Georgia, etc. fans.

As a huge LSU fan from Baton Rouge I hated when we played Tebow and Florida but I always respected the man’s determination. This book lets you in on his thought process and shows how vital an iron will is to success. This book is like the movie Rudy on steroids as it is not only a motivational read but a look at the dissapointments in life and how you can’t let it beat you. I could not be happier with this book and Tebow makes fearing God look cool.

I purchased this book yesterday (Sunday 6-5-11) and finished it today. It was a wonderful read and I discovered many things I did not know about Tebow. My husband is from Gainesville and has cerebal palsy and was lucky enough to get to see Tebow play in a game but never got to meet him. We both love him and follow his career closely. I got this book on the Kindle that I bought for my daughter for her birthday and I am hopeful she reads it and learns a lesson from it. She is 17 and it’s not always easy with teen girls. Great job Tim!!

This is a good book. You can feel Tim trying to walk the line between telling things as they happen and trying not to come off as over braggadocios. I was not a Tebow fan while he was in college, but i think he stands for what is right in sports. I read this book as a new father hoping to gain some insight on what causes Tebow to be so driven and appear to be so wholesome.

Overall, this is a great book.

I’m not an avid football fan, I know the game but I don’t follow it every season and was oblivious to Tim Tebow and his career until about a month ago when he started to make headlines for his consecutive 4th Quarter comebacks. When his success brought national attention to his Faith it opened up discussions amongst my family about the negativity displayed toward his praying, particularly by Bill Maher. My sister gifted me “Through My Eyes” for my Kindle on Christmas and I was surprised to learn that one of my peers had already published an autobiography.
I do not have a problem with the age in which he published this memoir, although based on reading other reviews, it seems there are critics. I found it refreshing to hear from someone from my generation who not only has a good head on his shoulders but an impeccable work ethic. In the fashion of a good inspirational sports story, I found myself more motivated to work harder and longer in my training for an upcoming marathon after reading Tim’s mantras and about his successes.
I also found myself more motivated to pray. Although a practicing Christian, I am embarrassingly lackadaisical when it comes to praying and I wouldn’t say Tebow’s excessive praying guilted me into wanting to be more devout, but he did make me realize where God’s presence was missing in my life due to my own neglect.
So based on Tebow’s goal of writing an inspirational autobiography, I believe he has succeeded in getting out his message and affecting at least one life. As for the story, his story, I enjoyed reading about his upbringing and collegiate career. There were times when I felt he could have elaborated more on events in his life which he briefly mentions but could have lead to some great stories (i.e. a road trip with a packed car, a date with a fan with a brain tumor). And despite the low page count, I found the book very dense, with almost play by play details of all of his collegiate games.
I really like Tim Tebow based on what I read, and I am proud of the platform he has worked so hard and diligently to create for himself. Whether you’re a fan of the Gators or Broncos, you cannot deny the results, his championship wins and other accomplishments (i.e. Heisman) had to be earned.
Before reading “Through My Eyes”, I knew that he was a devout Christian and I also felt his actions on and off the field were commendable, that he was a good role model. I feared the naysayers and comedians like Maher would discourage him – eat him up for praying, then losing a handful of games, and the public tears – but after reading his autobiography, I learned that this is nothing new for this tough football player with a big heart. He is no stranger to critics. Hopefully he will continue to succeed both on the field with the Broncos and off with his TIm Tebow Foundation. I finished “Through My Eyes” just in time to watch the Broncos defeat the Steelers in the AFC Wild Card Game; it looks like Tebow will continue to make a name for himself in the NFL and it’s exciting to see him succeed.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Tim Tebow. I’m not a Florida fan or a Broncos fan, but I do root for the guy. I think he has a lot of great Christian values, and stands up for what he believes in. Overall, I did enjoy his book. I enjoyed seeing the football aspects of his career through “his eyes”. I also appreciate his glorifying of God…as a Christian myself. However, this is where the good aspects of this book end. The book became repetitious. Each chapter repeated itself. He literally went through nearly every game he participated in during college – this was probably 75% of the book. He also went on and on about how talented he is, how hard he worked, and how is was so much better than everyone he played with and against. He then added it was because of the glory of God…but it still came across as braggy, not humble. Overall it was still a good read, and football fans who are Christians (or open to Christianity) will appreciate the book. I think you need to be both to appreciate the story.

Tim Tebow is becoming an icon to many people. That’s not the way he would like it. He makes it clear that he doesn’t pray to win football games but only that he’ll do his best and glorify God with his life. I hope he succeeds in football but more than that, I hope he leads many people to know God.

Tim Tebow did his readers a great favor — he and his co-author wrote this book like a conversation, and kept it concise. It never dwells too long on one point, and keeps things moving through the various “seasons” of Tebow’s life (literal and figurative). Much of the page volume is devoted to each of his seasons at the University of Florida, and most of the key moments are punctuated by affirming Tebow’s belief that God is the author of his life (and all of our lives). He demonstrates complete trust that things will work out in accordance with God’s plan. As a fan, I would say there are 15 or 20 nuggets and anecdotes that I hadn’t heard before, so there is something new for the hardcore fan.

I have great respect for Tim Tebow but this book is very, very “safe”–he doesn’t really reveal much about himself other than the squeaky-clean image he portrays to the media. It’s a very guarded book and most of it involves minute details about football. Who really cares that he was not able to play quarterback in 9th grade? It might be worth a sentence but he goes on for a couple pages about it!

So instead of opening himself up by revealing his hurts, passions, sins and loves, Tebow instead keeps talking about football. And more football. He dissects key Florida games. Then he wraps it all up quickly with just a few pages about life after being drafted for the NFL. He avoids most controversies and sounds like a talking doll in his rote statements about his faith. He Christian work is admirable and to him it may just seem like the family business, but he is a little too matter-of-fact about it and fails to take any type of objective look at his life.

Most disappointing was a spot in the book where he lies to Urban Meyer in order to get back into a game after being hurt–some may find that passion admirable but he glosses over the fact that he told a lie in order to prove how valuable he was to the team. Tebow also tells of how his family faked Florida player signatures for fans and how he isn’t sure whether God is interested in the outcome of games.

Reviewers who use the words “arrogant” and “presumptuous” are correct–he has a swagger about him that shows an ego that was fed by well-meaning parents from a very early age, but to the point of being oblivious to the outside world. This book actually shows how driven parents do just about anything to get their little kid chances to become a great football player (including changing schools in high school and moving to an apartment to make him eligible at the new school), and how sad the whole college athletic recruiting process is. At no point does Tebow seem to condemn any of this and instead thinks it’s okay for it to coexist with Christianity while humbly boasting of his accomplishments.

If you are a Tebow fan you’ll probably like it but you won’t get to know much more about him than what his public image has already portrayed. It’s like he went through all of his press clippings and pasted them together without adding true insight. He is a man to be admired, but I’d still like to get to know the real Tim.

Chad Hennings speaks from the heart – the heart of a godly man. Life has many things in store – highs as high as winning the Superbowl and lows as low as seeing your child wrought in crippling pain. Yet through everything, there is one constant – Jesus Christ is always there for you and everyone who calls on his name. Chad is an awesome individual – not for his football abilities, but for his commitment to Jesus Christ and his family.

I will preface this by saying I am a Christian and a Gator fan and I remember every game that Tebow talks about in his book. It challenges Christians to take an active role in Christianity and to avoid laziness. It should inspire you to go beyond your limits. Tebow talks all about football, but you can apply this to your daily life and your life’s work.

I liked this book because it is realy his story. This book was about the life of tim tebow from his youth, teens, and now adult. when he was growing up he was a child he had two older brothers and a older sister. while he was growing up he was always very close with his brothers. he always looked up to his brothers he wanted to be just like them. he grew up on a farm in jacksonville, Florida. his familey met a new friend while growing up uncle dick was a close family friend. the family met them at a church service they held at their home. ever since they have been very close. he played alot of sports while growing up like baseball, and football.he always loved sports. he started working out when he was four years old while putting a ruber tube on his door and stretching it back and fourth. while growing up he was not that fun to throw with because he threw so hard. in his teens he was home schooled and played football at nease high school he played qb [ quarter back] he had a veary succesful year at nease while winning a natinal championnship and scouts loved him as he could run and throw the football. when he was done in high school he signed with the university of florida when he was a rookie they had a game called tug of war but as we know tug of war is when a team pulls the other team acroos the line but they did it a diffrent way. they played it like this. 1 vs 1 in tug of war but was when the other guy said he was done tim tebow wiped out the whole team. but the next year he was in the championship round and he got mad so he draged him acroos the ground and into the bathroom into the stall and fineley the other guy said he was done. the neaxt 2 years he got to start.the first year he led them to the natonal championship and won his finale year at florida he lost to alabama in the sec camionship game. then in the nfl draft he was drafted to the denver broncos. he got to start six games in 2010 season he won 2 of them with 676 yards and 6 touchdowns well that was my review of the story i gave it 4 stars so read the book yourself and do a review

I’m happy with this book, although I haven’t read much of it thus far. It’s hard to put down. Tim Tebow seems like a good person and it’s refreshing to hear from one of the “good guys”.

Reading this with my daughter has been a gift I’ll treasure forever. I hadn’t expected a young man to have much wisdom to share just being so young (and he addresses that nicely), but I have found more than just the story enjoyable – the book has been a great conversation piece for me with my 10 year old daughter. I am grateful Tebow created this story for family and friends to share together. What a gift!

Example – the chapter about Tim’s mom’s pregnancy impressed me with the delicacy and dignity he (with Nathan Whitaker) uses to offer the story. Here, I had expected a more evangelical Tebow (which I would have been fine with), but it never got “preachy” – just inspiring and touching the heart deeply.

Generally, to me, Tebow seems to present his faith as HIS and absolutely the only right answer FOR HIM. He doesn’t express his faith as the only truth for everyone, but rather uses his platform to explain how valuable it has been to him personally. I didn’t get the feeling that he was holding himself up as the gold standard whatsoever (again, I might have been just fine with that, because he does seem to be a fine modern example of a young man dealing with fame and faith beautifully, and, besides, I couldn’t be offended because I happen to agree with him in this respect).

I am thrilled his story has been genuine, heartfelt and inspiring. And he hasn’t really even lived but a small portion of his lifetime yet – so I can’t wait for the sequel!
I hope that one leads to the greatest heights of his hopefully legendary career. More importantly, a legendary LIFE

UPDATE: BOOK SIGNING, TATTERED COVER, DENVER 06-04-11 > What a class act this man is! Took my daughter and my neice to have their books signed. They both feel so blessed that they got to shake his hand as he looked sincerely into their eyes and told them it was HIS honor to meet THEM! OMG – to see a child’s heart touched (and eyes tear) from hearing such an inspiring remark from someone who is larger than life to them both. He treated them as if they were the only people there for that moment.

My neice leaves in 6 days to work at orphanages in Africa for 3 weeks and was overjoyed that I gave her Through My Eyes to read on her trip. She’s going to LOVE having this book with her – in her hands and in her heart as she works in Africa! GB2 to Mr. Tebow!

This book was incredibly inspiring to me as both an athlete and a Christian. It was very interesting to hear what was going on in his mind during games and what made him develope the qualities that he is now known for. I found this book to be very uplifting and motivating, and I think it could help people to see that their goals and dreams are achievable. In my opinion, the best part of this book was to hear about his relationship with God. There are very few celebrities to look up to these days and I am glad that there is at least one who is willing to share his faith and be a great role model for everyone. It was wonderful to read about someone who is so passionate about what he does and how he feels. If Tim wants to honor God by sharing his story and how He has helped him through life, then I think he has successfully accomplished this task. I did not know much about Tim Tebow, but after reading this book, I am officially a Tebow fanatic!

I met Chad Hennings last year at a local grocery store. He greeted my wife and me with kindness and sincerity. His heart and committment are as strong as his grip. It Takes Committment is a wonderful book. Chad talks about the level of committment needed in devotion to family, working with teammates, and certainly not least, submitting to God. Amidst the Dallas Cowboys’ tumultuous times as of recent is Chad Hennings, a rock of honor and example. His comments are sorely needed, not just in football, but in today’s culture in general. The book is easily readable for all ages, and brims with honesty and love. I agree with Emmitt Smith’s foreword: This book was written by a man of God and needs to be read by every American adult and youth. You won’t be disappointed

I’ve always liked Tim Tebow, ever since college. His book gives a good background on his upbringing and personal life. After a while you do sort of get the idea that he’s boasting a bit too much, but other than that it is not a bad book.

This book gives insight into a man who “walks the walk and talks the talk”. How refreshing in professional sports.

This is a wonderful story of Tim Tebow’s journey to the NFL. It is a very personal and heartwarming book, and gives you his take on all of the media-scrutinized events of his life. I really enjoyed this, and can’t wait to read this with my nine year old son.

First off, I admittedly became a Tim Tebow fan when he was drafted by the Denver Broncos, so like many (most?) readers of this book, I was already a fan when I first opened it. There is a lot to like in this story: Tebow shows an occasional self-deprecating sense of humor, he doesn’t seem overwhelmed or infatuated with his own stardom, and he’s very candid about his Christian faith without sounding preachy. Tebow is also such a likeable person and a great role model; I’m reading the book to my 11-year-old son and I love that Tebow the person has so much integrity and is so open about being a Christian. He is the kind of athlete that parents would not be afraid to have their kids emulate.

Despite all the positive qualities, this book does have some rough edges that reveal Tebow was not only a rookie QB but also a rookie writer: gramatically he splits a lot of infinitives and some of his account could have been streamlined to be more concise — for instance, the chapter on him deciding which college to select (yes, there is an entire chapter on this) could have been told in 3-4 pages without losing much. But there is way more to like than to quibble about. Tebow’s life basically revolves around three poles: God, his family, and football, and there are a lot of all three in the book. If you want a closer look into the phenom that is Tim Tebow, this book will probably leave you liking him even more and turn you into an even bigger fan.

On the campus of the University of Notre Dame – within sight of its football stadium – is a statue of Jesus with his arms upraised. Due to the statue’s proximity to the gridiron, many have informally dubbed the statue, “Touchdown Jesus.”

Many could use the same moniker for Tim Tebow, the Bible toting, scripture-spouting quarterback, ex-Heisman Trophy winner, national football champ for the University of Florida Gators and now (at least this week) the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

It is unusual for someone in their early 20′s to write an autobiography. Tim Tebow seems to understand that some people are fascinated by his story and hunger for more.

Others are nauseated by it. There are Tebow lovers and Tebow haters. Few seem neutral about Tim Tebow. He is an unlikely polarizing figure but polarizing nonetheless.

His autobiography, THROUGH MY EYES, offers his story. To many, this will not be unfamiliar terrain. Mostly, it is a story of faith, family and football, in that order. Each chapter begins with a Bible first. Some people will like this. Other people will find it great King and annoying. It appears clearer that Tim Tebow’s Christian faith serves as the cornerstone of all of his activities, both on and off the gridiron.

Having said that, he was obsessed with sports and football at an early age. Because of his stocky body type and his passion for weight lifting and strength training, many football coaches tried to shoehorn him into playing linebacker or running back. However, from an early age, Tebow was fixated and obsessed with playing quarterback and no other position. His father moved him from different teams and coaches who were determined to play Tebow some position other than quarterback.

This is ironic. To me, part of the gist of Christianity is subordinating your ego and personal preference to the will of God. However, when it comes to football, it appeared that Tebow placed his ego and his desire to play a particular position above the judgment of coaches who felt that he would serve the team better in a different position. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just an anomaly between Tebow’s submissiveness in one realm and his “me first” approach when it came to selecting his football position.

Bottom line: if you are a Tim Tebow fan, you will likely enjoy this book. If you are a hater, you probably wouldn’t take the time to read the book in the first place and, if you do, you will find it grating and annoying.

When I mentioned to my oldest son, age 25 and an ardent NFL football fan, I was reading Tim Tebow’s autobiography, he sarcastically remarked, “Finally we will learn about somebody that the media has left undiscovered!” There is a risk of Tebow overload. As the book comes to press, Tebow finally gets the nod to be the starting quarterback for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. There is a raging debate about whether or not Tebow is suited to ever succeed as quarterback in the National Football League.

While Tebow tends to wear his faith on his (jersey) sleeve, I personally do not find it irritating. I do not believe that he comes across as a “holier than thou” or judgmental guy. Because of his faith and his willingness to be “out there” with regard to his Christianity, many have thrown stones at him and have tried to paint him as some kind of sanctimonious hypocrite or religious nut. I don’t think that this stereotype fits Tim Tebow. Even before he turned pro, he used his fame as a vehicle to raise funds for needy children and other worthy causes.

Part of the problem is people thinking that Tebow is “just too good to be true.” Since so many paragons on pedestals have been brought down by scandal, it is easy to examine closely to see if Tebow has feet of clay.

While anything is possible, Tebow appears to be The Real Deal. THROUGH MY EYES serves double duty as both an athletic and faith journey.

I found this book to be very inspiring. To see that someone who has achieved some of the great things that Chad has, but has still experienced some of the same trials and disappointments that I have has helped motivate me. Chad’s commitment to God, family and country is an example for us all.

i love tim and this book was ok because i see him play becase he plays on my team the broncos and i think hes hot so this book is ok

If you’re an admirer of Tim Tebow, then you’ll find no better book about the man. I was very interested to hear about his upbringing, and some of the stories I’ve read about from other sources, but never hearing directly from the man himself. At times, the book did seem a bit much when it focused on his faith but this is obviously a very big part of the guys life so I can’t take away to many points for him standing up for what he believes in. If you like tebow you’ll like this book. If you don’t like Tebow, you will not like this book. Simple as that.

What a fantastic role model is this young man. My husband and I have watched him play football for years and knew that he was going to become one of the greatest to ever play the game, but now we see that his life-view is also remarkable. This is such an inspirational book! I would recommend it to anyone; especially, to young people.
